The impact of t-shirts? Textiles is a big industry in Peru. Pima cotton is grown in Peru. Fabric is made in Peru. Clothing is cut and sewn in Peru. But as Peru becomes a middle-income country, this industry is being lost to Bangladesh and other low-income countries, unless that is Peruvian clothing companies step up the value chain from taking orders from foreign brands to taking orders from global consumers.
